Welcome to Michael Carman Consulting

My consultancy helps organisations lift their performance and standing. I have consulted to Broadspectrum, the NSW Department of Justice, the NSW Land & Housing Corporation, Lend Lease, Australia Council for the Arts, Sydney Trains and NSW Trustee & Guardian. My work encompasses:

Analysing performance issues, developing KPIs and undertaking process mapping and performance improvement projects

Carrying out reviews and quality audits

Providing change management strategy, planning and delivery

Generating and delivering learning & development on management skills such as communication, leadership, and performance improvement / process mapping with a focus on the use of simulation and game-based techniques

I use analytical techniques where I can to paint a clear, measurable picture and as a basis for decision-making.

My analytical work has encompassed:

  • using high-powered statistical tools to carry out analyses on reliability, and determinants of customer satisfaction, in the NSW transport sector
  • undertaking a cost-benefit analysis of the NSW Land & Housing Corporation's new maintenance contract for public housing and an evaluation of a pilot project for the same contract
  • researching and analysing (using multiple regression analysis) local government efficiency and timeliness in handling development applications: click here to read the write-up of this research in The Sydney Morning Herald, and
  • undertaking the business case for the refurbishment of the Queens Square Law Courts for the NSW Attorney General’s Department.
